Ordering, Pricing & Shipping
Where are the radios made?
Rapid Radios and the Rapid Radios mobile apps are fully designed and developed by our in-house team based in Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA. While some hardware components are sourced from Asia, the core technology, software, and data infrastructure are entirely built and maintained by Rapid Radios—along with our local customer support team—ensuring full control over quality, privacy, and performance.
Where is your business located and where are the radios supported?
We are a 100% American-owned business based proudly in Michigan. All customer service, technical programming, network management, and warranty fulfillment are handled directly by our teams here in Grand Rapids. We provide nationwide LTE coverage across the United States. Global coverage is available as an add-on after purchase.
How does the pricing and annual service work?
Rapid Radios operates on a streamlined, premium service model. Your initial purchase includes the device, premium accessories, and your entire first year of multi-carrier cellular connectivity. To maintain your nationwide service, we charge a simple $50 annual flat rate per radio. This provides your crew with uninterrupted access to our top-tier network infrastructure without the hassle of monthly subscriptions or complex contracts.
What is included in the box?
Every Rapid Radios bundle arrives ready to use. You will receive the radio(s), a rechargeable battery, a belt clip, and the dedicated charging cable.
Important Safety Note: You must strictly use the provided Rapid Radios charger. Using third-party chargers may result in battery damage or overheating and will void your warranty.
When will my order ship?
We process orders as quickly as possible. Because we offer complimentary custom programming for your talk groups, there is a brief manual setup process before your devices are shipped securely via UPS.
What is your return policy and warranty?
We stand behind our products with a 30-day satisfaction guarantee. If you are not completely satisfied, simply contact our Michigan office to arrange a return for a full refund. Additionally, all radios include a 12-month parts warranty backed by our dedicated support team. You can view our complete return policy here.

Technology, Range & Features
What is Push-to-Talk over Cellular (PoC)?
Push-to-Talk over Cellular (PoC) is a technology that combines the instant communication of a traditional walkie-talkie with the limitless range of a cellular network. Instead of relying on limited radio frequencies, Rapid Radios use IoT SIM cards to instantly transmit encrypted audio across major LTE networks nationwide.
How are Rapid Radios different from a standard cell phone?
- Instant Push-to-Talk: Connect instantly with the press of a button—no dialing, ringing, or waiting.
- Works When Phones Fail: During emergencies when standard public voice networks are overloaded, our devices utilize dedicated multi-carrier data channels to maintain your connection.
- Multi-Network Support: If one carrier experiences an outage, our radios automatically failover to another for uninterrupted nationwide coverage.
- Private & Secure: Your conversations are fully encrypted using 256-bit AES encryption. Unlike public cellular calls, there is no risk of interception or outside spam.
Are LTE radios better than traditional VHF/UHF radios?
Yes, for teams that need to communicate beyond a single building or job site. While traditional VHF/UHF radios are limited by line-of-sight and physical obstructions, LTE radios utilize established cellular infrastructure to provide crystal-clear audio across the country, completely eliminating static and dead zones.
Is the range of Rapid Radios truly nationwide?
Yes, Rapid Radios offer truly nationwide range. Because our devices utilize Push-to-Talk over Cellular (PoC) technology, your range is not limited by traditional radio antennas. You can communicate clearly from one state to another instantly, utilizing premium LTE networks for uninterrupted, enterprise-grade connectivity. International coverage is available as an add-on after purchase.
Will this work in an area with poor cellular coverage?
Yes, Rapid Radios are designed for superior connectivity in two key ways. First, unlike a standard cell phone that relies on a single provider, our devices utilize IoT SIM cards that seamlessly access all major cellular carriers. If one network has a weak signal, the radio automatically connects to the strongest alternative. Second, because Push-to-Talk technology transmits voice as short, highly compressed packets of data, it requires significantly less bandwidth than a traditional phone call. This allows your messages to successfully "punch through" in fringe coverage areas where a standard cell phone would drop the call. To verify the LTE network availability in your specific location, you can check the official FCC National Broadband Map.
Can I use my radios internationally or on a cruise ship?
Yes. Global coverage is available as an add-on for $50 per year, per radio. Your radios will function internationally in any region with established LTE infrastructure. They will also work on most major cruise lines, provided the ship is equipped with active LTE repeaters.
Is a SIM card pre-installed?
Yes. Every Rapid Radio arrives with our proprietary multi-carrier IoT SIM card pre-installed, fully activated, and ready to use out of the box.
Do I need an FCC license for an LTE walkie-talkie?
No FCC license is required. Traditional two-way radios require paid licensing and frequency management, but Rapid Radios operate over secure, encrypted cellular data networks. This allows your team to deploy our devices instantly without regulatory red tape.
Are my communications private and secure?
Yes. Your audio is streamed using end-to-end 256-bit AES encryption. Communications are strictly limited to the private groups you establish. Furthermore, we do not record or store your audio data anywhere on our servers, and our anonymous SIM cards cannot be tracked.
Who can see my radio's location?
Your privacy is our priority. Your device's location is securely transmitted only to your organization's private RapidOps dashboard. Only your authorized account administrators can view the live map—your location is never public or accessible to outside users.
How do talk groups work?
You have complete flexibility to configure your communications. You can set up large team-wide channels, dedicated departmental groups, or private one-on-one connections. Your network is entirely closed, meaning you will never overlap with public channels or outside users.
Can I use the radio for one-on-one communication?
Yes. Rapid Radios support private, one-on-one selective calling as well as large, team-wide talk groups. You can switch between group channels and direct individual communications seamlessly from your device.
Is there a mobile app? Can I use the radios without it?
Yes, we offer a dedicated Rapid Radios mobile app for iOS and Android. The app transforms your smartphone into a push-to-talk device, allowing you to communicate seamlessly with your team's physical radios. However, the app is entirely optional—all core communication functions on the physical radios work completely independently without a smartphone.
How long does the battery last, and can it be replaced?
Our radios feature a high-capacity rechargeable battery designed to last for up to 5 days of standard use without needing a charge. The batteries are fully removable and replaceable if needed.
Can I use an earpiece or headset?
Yes. Our radios feature a standard Kenwood dual-pin connection port, allowing you to use a variety of headsets, hand mics, and earpieces. For maximum privacy and security, our devices do not utilize Bluetooth.
What industries benefit most from nationwide two-way radios?
Rapid Radios are engineered for teams that require instant, reliable coordination across large distances. Our technology is frequently deployed by logistics and transportation fleets, event management teams, construction and contracting crews, municipalities, farming operations, commercial facilities, and executive security personnel who require closed-network, encrypted communications.
